My husband and I found The Smell of Success to be a delightfully strange movie, full of unexpected twists, beautiful surreal visuals and great performances. It was a laugh-out-loud movie for both of us, and we were sure it would be a cult classic by now. Surprised when we noticed that it had a fairly low rating. The humor is pretty earthy at times, but it worked well with the story. We think it deserves 5 stars for originality and for being a very entertaining and beautifully constructed film. Also, the sound-track was exceptional. I tried to find it for purchase, but it seems to be unavailable. We missed it when it came out in 2009, and are very pleased to have finally seen it now, in the last days of 2021.
