Hi country file, I'm writing this review with a passion. This is the first time since your wonderful program came about all those years ago.I was sickened by the blood sports that are still going on in this country, how sad it is that cock fighting is even considered as a pleasure to watch. I've been an avid watcher of wildlife on TV and around myself where ever I find myself. But tonight I felt compelled to write in because straight after the report on blood sports and the presenter rightfully telling us how cruel it is the next subject with the RSPB was shown. I had at one time a garden full of bird species visiting it and I had a bird table and feeders scattered about my garden even nesting in the trees lining the boundry. in the last few years two sets of new neighbours moved in one family has two cats and the other has eight cats. ( how many cats do one family need ? ) the cats are well looked after and FED every day but still every year the cats lay in wait at the bird table but worst of all climb through the trees killing the chicks in their nests. Please don't get me wrong I like cats, but is it not still cruel if a cared for pet can kill these wonderful little nuggets of wildlife, if it were a dog killing local ducks or swans no doubt it would be worth reporting on and the owners would face persecution or prosecution. Still we will let these semi domesticated animals devistate our bird species and ruin for others what are more important to them. No I'm not a dog owner either, this is just a person who sees that the bird species since I was a child decimated. I also don't expect country file to mention this in any of its programs as it may affect "viewing numbers". Shorely there should be measures put in place for how many cats needed in a family for the sake of our wonderful small birds. Yours affectionally. Chris. ps I dare you say something to the viewers on this subject. h
