As a medical technologist/ clinical laboratory scientist who worked in hospital laboratories for over 40 years I'm shocked at the portrayal of the laboratory in the series. They need to replace the medical advisor to the show since he seems to have never been near a lab. My issues are:
1. a resident would never perform an autopsy. They are done by pathologists or medical examiners.
2. I've never had a physician do lab work. I'm not sure it's even allowed by the lab accrediting board.
3. For such a sophisticated hospital the lab is dark/no automation and doesn't seem to use computers. Paper results ended 20 years ago. All they show are racks of beakers!
The way the show depicts the lab is embarrassing, insulting and incorrect.
