I didn't know what to expect from this one. I thought 'Herself' would be another Lifetime movie about an abused wife and mother who escapes but her husband continues to torment her. It's so much more than that, although there is that, too. This movie explores human kindness and community, generosity and friendship, adversity and unspeakable heartbreak, and does it admirably. Ultimately it is about resilience and whether our heroine truly possesses it. No fairy tale endings here. Life is real and so is this movie. Don't read reviews that tell you what happens. Just watch it and let yourself be surprised. Easy to watch, this film is tender and true. I enthusiastically recommend.
