Not a relatable or sympathetic main character, at all. Apologetic celebration of bad decision making, abuse, and a childish sense of entitlement.
It's disheartening to see such an exaggerated response to the message and subject matter. This is a show made to display the most basic elements of working-class life to people who have never experienced it. Those of us who have see nothing extreme about Alex's situation or obstacles. It's striking, to me, to see how many people seemed to have been blind to how life works for most of us. Watching MAID just showed me yet again that nearly all entertainment is made for the financially privileged.
