This one-and-half-hour Pokémon movie does not a have right to be this good. It managed to introduce many compelling characters and give them all satisfying arcs. There was real, sustained, interconnected conflict that required a combination of appropriate resolutions. Everything managed to stay balanced and I’m astounded the creators were able to fit so much into a such a short animated film without making it feel overstuffed. The pacing was on point and the plot was easy to follow. Cinematography was good and the English adaptation never felt awkward. Anyone with just the most base-level appreciation for Pokémon will enjoy this movie.
