As others have said, this movie is visually stunning; unfortunately it will offend other senses and the intellect. It is constantly, and unnecessarily melodramatic; so many characters speak in speeches so often that it stops being entertaining very early on. The fight choreography (and I use that word very loosely), was nearly non-existent and, in some cases, nonsensical. The villain started very promising, but rapidly began to seem too inept to be in charge of a trip to a grocery, much less a major component of the military. And I don't know if I can honestly comment on the "evil empire", or the "rebels" opposed to them, because neither side seemed more than a half-sketched outline. Overall, an ambitious project that doesn't feel fully realized.

Caveat, I am only three episodes in. Still, in every episode so far, this show seems to a poorly realized 'The Magicians' rip off. People reacting to seeing magic happen in front of them is so poorly done I'm not sure if it's bad acting or bad writing. At one point the main character describes a creature he saw to have another look it up online because apparently he doesn't know what a werewolf is (which, if it was made clear that he doesn't want to admit that's what he saw would be understandable, but he acts genuinely surprised, as though a werewolf is a completely new idea he'd never heard of, which would be okay if he were 5 instead of a college student). How the show was given a second season while Netflix cancels shows that are truly good is beyond me.
