Is this how people feel about movie adaptations of their favorite books? I spent the entire movie criticizing how little is drawn from the books other than names of characters. I couldn't begin to enjoy it with how they wanted to change every little thing. The characters at their fundamental core felt like mutilation of the originals, sometimes to fit the actor rather than be true to the character. In the end, it didn't feel like "The Last Apprentice."
My resentment for a poorly made adaptation set aside. Take away the names--that's about all that makes it "the Last Apprentice"- and it's not horrible. Somewhat generic and hollow at times, but my brother likes it, if that matters.
I'm surprised that John Delaney, the author of the sourced books, is cited in the credits. The thought that he had approved these corruptions of his work is a hard pill to contemplate swallowing. I wanted to like this movie, but it has little to nothing on common with the books anfld comes off a nauseating display of disrespect towards its source materials.
