This is a game about exploring a new planet, documenting its flora and fauna, and collecting alien objects. That is almost the entirety of the gameplay, it has very little as far as story content goes outside of this. The game itself is rather short, I beat it with around 60% completion in about 6 hours. My second play through where I got 100% completion took about 8 hours. The collectible that increases your stats caps out after you have only collected half of them, which makes collecting the rest seem pointless. You can get by with only half of the collectible that you need to upgrade your gear as well, as most of the later pricier upgrades aren’t necessary and some of them are incredibly niche or downright useless. There are also a number of fuel tanks needed to refuel your ship, but you only need to collect around a third of them to completely refuel, and the rest of them provide no benefit... I understand that only needing some of them makes it easier for casual players to finish the game, but there should at least be some benefit for getting all of them. The rest of the collectibles are lore pieces which reinforce the story though, which is cool. There are a very large number of the collectibles that are just gated behind something that you need a tool from a future zone to get through, or something that you need a tool that you got a long time ago to get through with no ammo for it remotely close, resulting in a lot of backtracking, which just isn’t fun. All of the major bosses were considerably easier than the minor bosses, which felt wrong. The blaster (primary weapon for the whole game) is incredibly unresponsive at times, sometimes you have to click several times before it fires a shot and other times it works fine. Also the shock fruit section went on for way too long. Overall the game was a fun cuter version of Subnautica with a focus on exploration instead of survival, though because of its short storyline and shortcomings listed here I don’t think it’s worth it’s full price.
