Once in a while - quite rarely, in fact - a book comes along which answers questions you had on a particular topic, and some you didn't even knew to ask. This is such a book. This book is so lucid on the language history of India that you wish it was longer; wish she would throw light on more things. If you are like me and have been following the story of the Rig Veda, Indus Valley, and genes, and you have been following the developments in this field by David Reich et al, and (final "and") have read Early Indians by Tony Joseph, this book by Peggy Mohan will complete the picture. Even if you haven't, this book is immensely readable and enlightening. To paraphrase a New York Times blurb on the back of Dawkins' Selfish Gene, this book will make you feel clever.
