I though James Cordon was someone whose insight and opinions I could trust to be openminded and well thought out.
But downplaying the social and cultural impact of a group of young Asian men, who have faced discrimination and condescension and had their achievements undermined because of their race and language, a group who continues to spread a message of positivity, joy, love, acceptance, denouncing violence and bullying and promoting mental health and self care and care for others, putting all of their achievements and impact aside just because they are a boy group, stereotyping their fans as '15 year old girls' when they're in fact the most diverse in age, majority being between 20-60... that was entirely unfair and uncalled for.
I expected better of James who advertised himself as both a fan and friend of BTS. Because both fans and friends know what prejudice and discrimination they've faced, so downplaying the impact and identity of both the artists and their fans while using them for clout and comedy is something that this group and fandom have quite honestly had enough of, and to have it come from a so called fan/friend is downright a slap in the face.
The trust is lost but the least James could do now is apologize for his poorly thought out words. Thought I won't even be surprised if no apology was given.
