A true Star Wars world builder for the hardcore fans and for those that want a more adult-like Star Wars rather than a "Disney" feel. If you're a fan of Star Wars lore, you'll notice numerous Easter eggs throughout the series. It has a slow burn in the beginning, and many low-rated reviews prove the impatience of many as they were written in the first week of release. The show does start off slowly, but it builds a world that feels very lived-in and real, with many relatable and real characters. Unlike most Disney Star Wars shows, where it’s random action just to have it. In my opinion, this show is worth watching multiple episodes of. The story is told almost as a movie rather than a show. In a quick summary, it tells the story of the early stages of the rebellion, human nature, and the sacrifices some are willing to make for what they believe in.
That being said, it is well worth the time if you are a Star Wars fan or even if you don't watch Star Wars because you can get into the more adult-like themes and grittier side of the Star Wars Universe that we often don't see. Is it familiar with classic Star Wars? Yes, but in the everyday lived-in world rather than the Skywalker saga. For instance, we often see parts of Coursaint that we’ve never seen before, and a greater variety of towns. From the perspective of an average citizen, we see how a few stormtroopers can project power in their town. Many get the idea that Star Wars always has to be the Force, space battles, and lightsabers all the time. I think this philosophy hurts world building. When we know that the majority of the Star Wars universe isn't wielding lightsabers or using the force, it’s a very closed-minded mindset from that type of fan. This show does not deserve a one-star rating; that is exaggerated and demonstrates how delusional some fans are. The show is shot well, has great acting, and a deep plot with a well written story. That is far from a 1 star. Most fans are passionate and will be overly critical when they don’t get what they believe Star Wars to be. But I believe when it's all said and done, many will look back and really appreciate this show for what it does for the Star Wars universe and tell the story of the rise of the rebellion.
