I just finished reading the book of the same name- I learned so much of this sector of the American population and their situation. Depressing yes but uplifting at the same time. Even though many of them are in dire places there is also a sense of community and a feeling of resiliency of the human spirit.
I then watched the movie. I am so tired of so many Marvel movies with no original ideas. This movie is haunting and meaningful- I appreciated its quiet nature and at the same time driving home an extremely powerful message. The cinematography is beautiful. I love that the real people from the book are in the movie and there is no one better than Frances McDormand to play Fern, it is truly a masterful performance. This movie will stick with me for a long time.
