A masterpiece of a game, STRONGLY RECOMMENDED. 10 out of 10 — one of the most enjoyable games I have EVER played.
I bought a Steam code for €15.74 from Fanatical (March 2024), and I have to say that I am loving every minute I have played so far. Here is what I enjoy:
(1) The game code is very well optimized and the game plays very smoothly on the PC. My nVidia RTX 3060 12 Gb fan barely makes any noise while playing the game, with most settings maxed.
(2) The game is open world, of medium size. The in-game map is clear and easy to read. Lots of houses and locations to investigate.
(3) The story is absolutely gripping. You have to deal with cultists and vampires. The game scratches my zombie itch in that respect.
(4) The graphics are very well done and very atmospheric. They remind me of Fallout 4 and The Sinking City.
(5) There are safe houses to unlock once you beat the cultists that defend them. The game reminded me of Far Cry and Dying Light in this respect. You can fast travel between safe houses.
(6) The interface is simple and elegantly done. Not super confusing as in other games I love, e.g. The Division.
(7) If you enjoy searching houses and yards for items, you are going to love this game. And whatever you collect, get converted to currency immediately — you don't have to sell it anywhere.
(8) Finally, daylight, the easiest difficulty, is doable for kludges like me, although it can get challenging when more than one Vampires are attacking you.
TIP: When you first start the game, you may have to disable any external displays (that are in a different resolution than your main one) in order to get all resolutions to show up in the Settings.
I felt I should provide some input, considering the mixed response this wonderful game seems to have received so unfairly, in my opinion.
