Not much on the box Sunday night so I checked out dancing with the stars. What a farce! Enthusiastic dancers, full marks, but go to any Dance Sport event in Australia if you want to see quality dancing. I guess there is a small audience for this overhyped drivel, but not me. The costumes and presentation were excellent, if that’s your taste. How about recruiting some REAL DANCERS. regards

This movie was a treat from start to finish. Required close attention in the early stages while characters were developed. Despite his mothers negative outlook on her life, Lowry says I am a man who paints, that is all. Wonderful masterful acting, like a superb meal for the senses, best enjoyed slowly..

The minimal dialogue, allows the atmosphere of the 1940’s to develop. Several times during the movie the screen is filled with the European wheat crop symbolic of the obliteration of Aboriginal life and culture. The well meaning nuns are conflicted with the plight of these unwanted boys, presumably because they were of mixed blood. Thoughtful and satisfying in every way.

Dialogue was pretentious and often indecipherable. Convoluted story line. Kate Blanchett’s performance was admirable. Film was too long and the story, such as it was , was laboured. Small bits of the major composers work was frustrating. The orchestral scenes were wonderful but few. Too hard to decipher for most. The after theatre crowd was almost unanimous in their thumbs down.
