I heard a lot of bad reviews about this book I was really scared to pick it up because I freaking love The Silent Patient and I didn't want to be disappointed. but this book is really good. and yes you should read it too and give it a chance.
I was paranoid the whole time and before the reveal I guess the k!ller correctly but even if you find who the ki!ller is, there's a twist in it that I liked very much.
people complaining because he makes you sus about all the characters and then actually leave you high and dry and do something unexpected. I don't know I see that as good writing. I mean I gave it 4 star just because my guess about the k!ller was correct! the whole point of reading a Mystery novel is the guessing and being wrong the whole point is author outsmart you imo. If you're mad that he managed to write something you never guessed well that's on you.
I think the ending could be a bit better. the beginning , middle was written so so so much better, the ending part was good it could be better and i'm talking about more details etc. (I understand what he likes to do with the ending of his stories and it's cool but I'm talking about after reveal till before 911 it was kinda so predictable. at first before the reveal it made me guess about 'something' completely wrong but like after that, the fight scene, the hero and all became predictable)
(SPOILER AHEAD... not really tho but still don't read it if you haven't read his books)
one of the things that makes me sad in his stories and books is how he show you this perfect marriage, this fairy tale and at first you're like awww I want what these bishes are having and then he crashes your dreams and he's like jokes on you there's no happily ever after. like plz Mr. Michaelides stop it let us have some hope :(
(END OF SPOILER/RANT)
in general this is a good thriller/mystery/psychology novel really enjoyed it.also loved the cross over somehow made me happy.I really like how he can capture some of female fears this good. idk but I think it might be kinda hard to explain or understand some of these fears from the male perspective but he somehow manage to write those feelings down perfectly(imo) He's really creative. His characters are well written. I like his short chapters.it makes me want to keep reading another one and then all of a sudden I realized the book is finished and I've spend 10h reading the whole book in one setting.
in the end whatever he's writing ,his words, materials are good I wish he write more because I can see him becoming one of my favorite author along side Dan Brown in this genre.
