I just watched the first episode... really badly written (not going to consider acting in this critic).
*"spoilers alert"
Why did they send them (alone and without any experience for this type of operation) in the Arctic? If it is to go right after they put them in quarantine...
Why were they not able to retrieve any info from the Arctic prior to go? (Scientist are very vigorous with keeping records... and you know we have internet... pretty easy to transmit info and keep backups).
Why did they find nothing prior to release them? Seriously, with the budget that the team seems to have, and the tools we have access nowadays, it would have take 3-7 days max to define the source. Just that... they were not really looking for it apparently.
Prions as the source of the disease? Prions are proteins, what they cause is an abnormal exponential accumulation (aggregates) of proteins in cells until the cells die. If prions were the cause... there is no way it would enhance the body!!! The vampires have drastic physical changes (increased strength, morphing, enhanced senses). Sure, it could explain why vampires are "undeads". Ho, and by the way, prions do not fly in the air easily, and does not penetrate the body easily too. Transmission occurs almost only through fluids exchange (sex, blood and saliva as they did show too). The risk of getting infected by air transmission is almost impossible (except if someone sneeze on your face... maybe haha). If the main protagonist is contagious/carrier (based on his wife's transformation), he would also have symptoms. You can't resist to prions like virus or bacteria. If it does not incorporate in your cells (hypothetically), it would be metabolised and secreted out (probably way before he got out of quarantine). Thus, he would have been cleaned prior to contaminate his wife.
"I am a research doctor" (or how to know nothing about science, academia and titles). 😅
In prison, the friend/vampire can hear through the glass in the interrogating room, but the protagonism keeps using the microphones. Then, he goes talk to him face to face for a private conversation (even if they can talk to each others already, and that the police officer can hear them...).
The contamination pattern (based on the friend/vampire) is really random (see episode 2 where a biker is contaminated). He was in contact with a lot of people and most of them are fine.
By the way, researchers (in public institutes/organisations) don't all have sport cars or big houses haha. Actually, most of us are poor or in the middle class. Scientists are far from being like Tony Stark! I wish... 😅
EPISODE 8
Ok, I had to talk about this one...
The scene with the "synthetic blood enzyme", it is a real enzyme (the name, DNA ligase IV, is on the screen and you can easily find a lot of info on it). It is expressed by lymphocytes (immune cells). It is not implicated in blood production and isn't synthetic (althought we can synthesize a lot of proteins nowaday). Even in the tv screen, they show where it is located in the genome (and they give us a bunch of info on the screen that isn't necessary for a scientist that needs to understand the function... like starting site of transcription or position on the chromosome).
I hope any writter that read this will take the time to research a bit more prior to make a script like this one...
