After a long time, I finally watched a horror movie that truly impressed me. The film felt incredibly creative and innovative, offering a distinct twist. I already enjoyed the original Smile but I didn’t have high expectations for the sequel, since sequels often don’t live up to the original. I ended up delaying watching it until I was in the mood for a horror movie and I’m so glad I finally did.
To my surprise, Smile 2 turned out to be outstanding. Every scene felt thoughtfully crafted, flowing seamlessly like a well-written poem. It was cohesive with every moment connecting naturally, forming one unified experience. The director has a unique vision and an exceptional talent for storytelling. His ability to understand horror and capture what truly gets under our skin is remarkable. Some of the scenes were shot in a refreshingly unique way, something we haven’t seen in other horror films before.
One of the most impressive surprises in the film was Naomi Scott’s role. I never expected her to take it on but she totally nailed it! She kept viewers on edge and showcased deep emotional commitment to her role. The casting director deserves immense credit for recognizing her potential. Finding talent like Naomi Scott and putting her in this role was a brilliant choice. The director’s guidance must’ve been exceptional because Naomi Scott delivered such a powerful performance. The movie’s slow pace was actually a plus, allowing the tension to build gradually and steadily. I don’t understand the 1-star reviews; Smile 2 truly deserves a solid 5-star rating.
The film showcases brilliant talent both in front of and behind the camera. Every character in the film contributed meaningfully to the plot and the director’s storytelling was both poetic and visually stunning. There are very few directors of this caliber in the industry and he’s undoubtedly one of them. The visual and auditory experience that Smile 2 offers goes beyond just any horror film. It’s something deeper. A surreal journey that takes your mind on a wild ride, giving you a kind of psychological trip without needing any high.
