Loved the visuals. Loved the story. Loved the chemistry between the main leads. I would have given it 5 stars if not for the laziness of their musical scoring. I HATED the background music. Actually, no. I don't hate it. It was not bad, in fact the score was great. What I hated was that some of the background music was pilfered; that some of the music from another drama that I was already emotionally invested in, which is Royal Nirvana. There have been several costume dramas lately that have been using excerpts from Royal Nirvana's wonderful score, composed by the talented Roc Chen. What? Did the production team spend too much on special effects (which was outstanding) that they didn't have enough left in the budget to create something new for this show?? I call that lazy film making. Now whenever I watch this I get SO distracted by the pilfered background music! It really is disrespectful to all the obvious hard work that everyone outside of the music department put into this show! (SMH)

Loved everything about this series especially Minglan's familial interactions at the begining. It has the feeling of being genuine thanks to the quality writing and casting. I gave this series 5 stars even with feeling that the costumes for the male leads (Gu Tingye and occasionally Qi Heng), frequently looked rather silly. I love The Story of Minglan so much that I am planning on buying this series to own on Blu Ray.

I started watching this on Vikki last week because in the past I've enjoyed some previous costume dramas with the main leads (Dylan Wang and Yukee Chen). So far it is just ...okay. I keep waiting for it to get to the main point of the show but it seems to get bogged down in trying to be funny, which of course you'd expect when the showing is billed as a comedy. Sadly, it falls short too often. (They should be have focused on it being a drama. That way when something humorous happens it doesn't feel strained, lol!) Right now I give it 2 stars. Many scenes were a waste of time, IMHO. I'll keep trying it in the hopes it does improve but fear it will end up like Oh! My Emperor with Xiao Zhan and Zhao Lu Si. As talented actors it must be tough when you're having to deal with a mediocre script and obvious novice directing.

When Dan's character was killed off in Rosanne's original series run I stopped watching because it lost something with Goodman's departure. Now, it is Rosanne that is killed off and not because the show creator wanted to go....but because "political correctness" and intollerance reared it's ugly head. If you ask me it was going to happen sooner or later; Rosanne didn't cave to the Big Disney machine and make her show about all things Left... SO... one tweet later was enough to fire her, steal her show and redirect the sitcom I used to love into just another show in the leftist propaganda machine. SIEG HEIL, ABC! I will not watch The Conners. Any desire to continue viewing died with the killing of Rosanne.
