Not a review instead trying to express what I felt after watching Director Maniratnam's magnum opus - Ponniyin Selvan: Part1. Maniratnam kept his respect to the book and at the same time found his space to bring his best as a director who creates magic with emotional frame.
It is evident that Director got unconditional support from the maestro AR, Ravi Varman, Thota Tharani, Eka and the entire cast. Everyone gave their best and the result exceeded all the expectations.
Just wanted to mention three scenes which I feel no one else other than Director Maniratnam can pull out so beautifully.
1. Aditya Karikalan telling his feelings. It was too intense and I believe that is what the director was trying to make us feel. It was kind of disturbing for my eyes as the camera movement might not be good in imax format(it might just be for me) but still i loved it.
2. Kundavai vs Nandini - They both made it a emotional and visual treat to watch the scene Nandini welcoming Kundavai in front of the palace. Another scene only Maniratnam can make it feel that way. They conveyed everything just with eyes and smile but it was 100 times better than intense dialogs.
3. That shot where Adhitya Akrikalan opens the door of that hut to find Nandini and Veera Pandiyan. Truly epic.
Waiting for part 2! This movie is going to be treated as a milestone of Indian movie history.
