The original 1992 Aladdin is by far my favorite Disney movie of all time. I went into the theater a little apprehensive but was remarkably surprised. I felt that Will Smith wouldn't make a good Genie but I was wrong. He made it his own and used his own humor and comedy chops to bring the Genie to life in a new form. I loved every second of it but can't say it beats the Original. Jasmine's character is more motivated to protect Agrabah than she is by love which I thought was awesome. The new Iago instills more fear than Jafar and is not longer a funny annoyance, this one poses an actual threat as he stalks the awkward yet charming new Aladdin. It's truly a great remake despite the bad reviews. If you're an Aladdin fan you won't be disappointed, except maybe by the new Jafar which I believe should have been played by someone more sinister and with a deeper voice haha. I give the film a 9/10. Definitely go see it, it was truly Awesome and I will be preordering the bluray!
