Absolutley loved it, it's old now and about an older time but more the important to watch. It reminds us how quickly and terrible life can become in a supposed civilized society. When the father wearing his prisoner stripes was carrying anvils up stairs, that was the epitome of evil for me. Brutal work for starving workers. Work which could have been better done by machine. However the "system" at that time had no desire to do things better, they just wanted to kill certain people through overwork rather than outright murder. How the father protected his son from the horrors is warming. Such a sweet/bitter/sweet story. And a lesson.

I've watched this movie off and on for decades. The mans talents are astounding.. The part where he fits the door to his cabin, the hand made wooden hinges. It's beyond words.
