What actually ruined this game, was the Call of Duty label. If this was an original IP, with no ties to the,COD franchise, it would have had greater success.
Black ops 1 was great. Black ops 2 was good, Black ops 3 is an abomination.
Modern warfare trilogy is awesome. The 2019 prequel reboot is pretty good.
My favorite military shooter is Operation Flashpoint, its a very basic, tactical, open world, 1st person shooter. It definitely has issues; that given time could be ironed out. Ghost Recon has been ruined by its 3rd person perspective.
