I am insulted as a Pakistani woman when I watch this drama!! Mehreen is shown as completely stupid! At one end of the spectrum she is this talented painter, debater and confident position holder who perpetually and insolently talks back to her mumaani and dadi about electricity bills and makes money from her art and appears to have a sense of self worth .. ( that’s the Pakistani women we admire and hope to be ) On the other end of the spectrum she is allowing her Khala to play her like a pawn and deliberately insert herself between Mashal and the American cousin! I get it that at some point as a adolescent she has a crush on that cousin, and that Mashal is conniving, sick and twisted … But ANY PAKISTANI GIRL worth her salt that I know would’ve thought that if the idiot believes the conniving vixen then they deserve each other. She should’ve happily married Saffan and rode off in the sunset! But no.. she must’ve licked lead based paint as a kid cuz she decided to dump saffan earnest proposal and get into the convoluted web spun by Mashal and even USA cousins mom! “ sure play me! I’m the brainless idiot” Why did that engagement happen?! My son won’t wear a shirt of my choosing let alone put on a ring under the name of a girl he doesn’t fancy?!?!? I should’ve stopped watching the drama then …. Jeez! Why even Saffan .. or USA cousin?’ A brilliant position holder Mehreen should cashed in on her talent .. pursed a career .. and maybe at some point down the road if a level headed partnership or match was meant to be it would’ve happened! I cringed and yelled at the screen each time she stayed quiet when she should’ve spoken up and walked away! If she was supposed to be this meek submissive mouse then it was an oxymoron to portray her as a confident debater, port and position holder. One person can not share such contrasting characteristics! I simply cannot insult my intelligence any further by watching another episode of this senseless story line… maybe it should’ve been set in the 1970’s to justify the rhyme and reasons in this plot. That being said Mahira Khan, Kubra Khan and Huma Nawab have given stellar performances! What a waste of their talent !!
