Didn’t read the book and fell onto this thinking it was a movie but was pleasantly surprised to find it was a series. I have always felt that Theo James was an underrated actor and this proves me correct his emotional depth and lack there of in some of his earlier years (playing Henry) really allows himself to stretch beyond what we have previously seen him do. Clare is cast perfectly with Rose as the feisty, still trying to figure it all out as we the audience are trying to do. But I can tell you want I like..no what I love about this show is the writing. Not just the content but how it’s written. It’s a kind of raw honesty that slowly reveals a gut wrenching truth. It takes you were you don’t want to go but when you get there you realize it’s not so bad…and oddly exactly where you should be. I am loving it so far I’m only on the 3rd episode. I just feel the this has a much deeper meaning and though it’s centered around time traveling the truth it reveals about how precious time really is in a way I’ve never experienced before. The directing is excellent as well. A writer can write the best script but without a great director it can’t be unveiled - in all it’s the perfect story told excellently and as some commented earlier - I can’t wait to take this journey as you just know it’s gunna be one ‘ell of ride. Just one more thing I want to mention without a spoiler is the scene with Henry and Clare in the library looking through his mother’s memorabilia is perhaps the most..no, I know it the most romantic thing I’ve ever seen (the part with the tape recorder). Perfectly acted, beautifully directed and then cut (edited) to be in my opinion the most perfect scene of any movie, film, show or series. It was simply flawless and due to the content …left me just dumbfounded. I am hoping this gets the attention and awards it certainly deserves. I am loving every minute of it and can’t wait to see the next episode.
