This is essentially a movie of "Betrayal" in multiple senses. Just like how the "protagonist" is betrayed in the second half, the audience too feels betrayed especially by the end when one is confronted with the meta theme which is a typical one : A seemingly nice guy who has impressive outward appearances shows his ugly color, while a toxic masculine figure comes to the rescue by revealing his virtuosity. One realizes towards the end that the narrative was not about the female protagonist at all, but it's merely a build up to the final reveal of the true "hero" of the movie. The organic performance by almost all the actors and the really beautiful cinematography, coupled with hyper realistic portrayal of the dark sides of semi urban and the beauty of rural side of Kerala, also leads to a betrayal when one thinks about the movie's narrative in hindsight. If the message that one discerns at the end of the movie is not to judge someone by their external appearances and mannerisms, I would say that that has been tried by countless movies and is necessarily a clichéd heroic twist. Basically the entire cast and crew of this movie and their true potentials have been betrayed by a mediocre scriptwriting.
