Devastated "The Tick" has been cancelled! It is hilarious, good and evil, heroes one can relate to and aspire to be (I'm not a big "anti-hero" fan but there is one of those in "Overkill" as well, he is awesome), an enormous cast of unpredictable and unique characters, fast-moving plot, a show for all ages (there's a rarity!), and a show you can watch over dinner without suddenly having to upchuck everything (another rarity). Don't you hate that when you're enjoying the show and all of the sudden a decapitated head shows up on the screen bigger than life? None of that here, although there are certainly villains to hate (in a big way), and villains who get theirs sometimes.
We haven't had this much fun since "The Princess Bride" and "Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated" (the new version with adult plots and unexpected plot twists). It's very difficult to make silly/hilarious films with content ("Men in Tights" comes to mind) and "The Tick" definitely has it all, much like "The Princess Bride". "The Tick" is mind candy in the best sense: unpredictable plots, unique and bizarre characters, lots of laughter, and beautiful life values: friendship, character development, the hero's journey, and Destiny. It's "Star Trek" all over again with letting this one go.
