This is a B film — it’s evident from the trailer and absolutely lack of any notable production team.
B films are their own genre and shouldn’t be compared to big production films or even art house films.
With that said, it’s a really great B film! It’s classification of horror is probably a bit overstated, but there is some intense gore at times.
The direction is quite interesting despite a rather meh cinematography and can be quite captivating at times.
The metaphor is apt and poignant. A woman is stripped of her power and trapped with other women — all convinced that they are not worthy of society. However, their mutual goals of liberation help them break free from their literal prison all in the service of helping their fellow woman. It’s wrapped in an ethereal package.
If you like B movies, it’s worth it.
