It’s so, so, so bad. I honestly don’t know who this movie was made for. I can’t imagine any adult would enjoy it, and a lot of the themes (animal cruelty, drinking, death) aren’t generally appropriate for kids. I’m aware it was a Chinese movie first, but that’s not the problem - it’s the plot, the characters, the story structure, and most of the dialogue. The characters are all one-dimensional, and expositions either don’t make the premise any more clear, or overstate plot points that were already obvious. The story is lazy, meandering, and tries way too hard to be emotionally moving. The animation quality is probably the only thing that ISN’T awful.
