Watching Taylor Swift discuss her right to use her own voice with her father and male managers makes me think about all the suffragettes, all the abortion seekers, all the LGBTQ youth, all the women in STEM, all the people who have come to into their truth so ferociously and fearlessly and have had to look into the very real and very scared eyes of a parent/friend/mentor/lover and tell them: “This is me. You’ll just have to forgive me for it.”
