I'm a mental health professional...I do NOT recommend this show unless you're a mental health professional who wants to laugh at the gross negligence and inappropriateness of Paul Weston, PhD. It was fun for a while... almost as an exercise in what NOT to do. Putting myself in the shoes of Dr. Weston, I have to wonder: When every single session with every single client leads to someone yelling, is my approach actually therapeutic? Melodramatic and exhausting, but strong concept with great acting.

A playful and thought-provoking contemporary adaptation of a modern classic. This first season holds the seal of approval from Anne Rice as executive producer. There are major differences in this series from the original book and film. Some people will be disappointed by this, but I found that it made this adaptation relevant to our times by injecting it with new life (if you'll pardon the pun). More art than escape - this series is both literally and emotionally gruesome - and I love it!

Great in-depth interviews of legendary male voices in hip-hop. 4 seasons and only a single passing mention of Salt-n-Pepa. Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, Monie Love, Pebblie Poo, Lisa Lee, and many others were smashed into one 4-minute segment during season 2. Lil' Kim was given more time throughout the seasons because of her relationship to Biggie and Pac. Missy was the only other female artist that was passed the spotlight, which she very clearly shared with Timbaland. Really disappointing because it is such a comprehensive and compelling docuseries otherwise. Women are not shown to belong in the hip-hop pantheon. Which is absolutely false.
