I like the show but i agree about so many gays. Is the town so small the crew all have to have affairs with each other, gay or straight? So disappointed at the Season end of Season (2?) there was a stationary picture of the Northern Lights. Couldn't you have done a green screen of the Northern Lights in motion, for which they are famous? How can you talk about the lights being dancing spirits when there is just a glowy green smudge in the sky?

Okay. I like the show but I am not sure how much longer I will watch, My husband and I always ask "Who is going to get killed in this episode?" How does a family get away so often with beating, branding, shooting, burning and other crimes and never get caught or punished? I cannot distinguish between the Sober Beth and the Drunk Beth. She is a one-note character. When does her clothing just fall off? It seems a waste of a good actress's chops. Costner is much better at playing an American than he was in Robin Hood, where he sucked. My previous post got deleted because I apparently lauded excellent horsemanship but answered the kid's question about Columbus as "a lot" -- the horse had gone extinct in North America 10,000 years ago and returned to Mexico via the Spanish in 1519. I was accused of the crime of Hate Speech. What? How?

I basically like the show. I love Mary, Trudy and Flo. But Frankie -- honestly, she's got better at not twitching but she is really the weakest character. What drives me the craziest is the costuming. Frankie's clothing. She doesn't have to be Phryne Fisher but a tight pastel pantsuit in the 1920's? In one episode I swear she was wearing sheer black pantyhose. Pantyhose?!! There's that line from the 1920's song "Turned up nose, rolled down hose" Her pants are too tight, too short and the booties she wears are all wrong. I love the 1920's shoe with the spool heel and little straps. Anachronisms in the dialogue are jarring. Last episode there was an absinthe fountain in the bar. Absinthe was banned in 1912 in the USA. 1915 absinthe was no longer produced in France. So - although I believe it was never banned in Canada, where would they have sourced it? It was only available again in Canada in 2007. I could poke even more holes but I won't. Others have made some of the same points.

Brilliant! At her best, Ms. B, recalls the historical Bards. There status was such that they could mock kings with immunity as they were considered exempt from persecution. Kings were afraid of being mocked because, once people laughed at them, they lost power. Besides, what could they do about it? Put the poet in boiling oil and watch him die? Everyone knows that a watched poet never boils.

Hi Andrea (or whoever reads these). Today Ken Dilanian discussed one of the sTrumpets - possibly Flynn - who was 'flaunting the law'. That was surprising. I envisioned Judges and lawyers prancing around in their skivvies with the naughty bits tastefully covered with law reports and case law. What Mr. Dilanian meant was 'flouting the law' which means an almost willful disregard for the Rule of Law. Mr. Dilanian is not the first, nor will he be the last, to make this semantic blunder, but it is worth pointing out. Media people are the purveyors of language in this benighted world and it behooves them to use correct English. 'Impact' is another example. Impact is not a verb - it is a noun. Things may have an 'impact' but they don't impact things. Some of your reporters and correspondents are using sentences like, "It is a heavy lift to unpack the asks about the spends in an appropriate tick tock." It is akin to going to a restaurant to 'nutrition' and 'fluid' yourselves. Yeah, I'm a pedant. But I think my point is valid.
