Part fable, part scathing look at suburbia. A bold story of sexuality, personal awakening. Both funny,and tragic. Sad and ultimately rewarding. A true American classic.

An extraordinary character study. This film forces the viewer to deal with their own emotions as well as the emotions of the actors. Fraser is superb , as are his co-stars, each complex in their own right and as they relate to " The Whale" It's not just a film, it's a shared journey.

Cinematic genius. It showed the NYC I knew, both beautiful and sordid. Deniro is riveting. Everyone else great. A classic.

Spader's closings are worthy of note. Check out season 3, angel of death, about Katrina & N.Orleans. Too much soap opera sometimes, but the highs are more than worthwhile.
