This is what a rush job looks like.
The directors/writers clearly underestimated Harry Potter fans with this movie. No amount of adorable creatures, hilarious antics, or magic could cover up the terrible plotline. For the entire duration of the movie, you feel like your attention is being split amongst several new characters and subplots. Where the first movie was almost entirely centered on Newt and Creedance, this is vastly different. The way they navigate through these plots is a mess, and leaves you feeling confused and frankly disappointed. The ending did not leave me with any emotion. I simply found myself not caring.
I really hate to say this, but The Crimes of Grindelwald was not good. I expect this will be a movie that we pretend does not exist, as the writers attempt to patch it up in the next one.
