High points go to Michael Gross's performance, and the VFX department for taking special care of these beloved monsters.
In every other respect, the film falls flat. The script itself is weak. Too much telling rather than showing, and never develops its characters. Poor plotting nullifies any sense of drama, and subpar editing doesn't help.
Overall, this franchise vehicle crashes and burns. Poor script, directing, and editing mute all the hallmarks of past entries. It feels more like an excuse to end the series, rather than the proper send-off it deserved.
