Can I just say my opinion of this movie varies.. I feel it sucks that motherhood was displayed as the most stressful thing ever! Like it's all bad and no good. I'm sure this movie has put those who are first time mothers put off or even mothers carrying again put off from wanting more kids. In saying this, the upside is the reality of THOSE struggles we do face every now and then during motherhood. Lack of sleep, support, appreciation, love, attention, respect, understanding, the list goes on. Tully is a representation of Marlo trying to hold on to her sanity and trying to convince herself the good in it all because she is at breaking point. Being judged and not helped, so shes created Tully to be the most understanding, helpful person in her life to get through the long nights which is probably the hardest for her. (Its also a representation of the things she wants to happen) so all in all it's an awesome movie I just wish it wasnt AS depressing and that the end of it was to really elaborate the effects of PPD for most mums. I loved the twist at the end. I think I clicked that Tully wasnt real when she started becoming more involved in Marlos life, especially the scene with her seducing the husband. I knew that wasnt real and could see that Marlo was definitely Italy in her head. Such a good movie just misinterpreted different by everyone.
