This is one of the best LGBTQ+ movies I've seen.
Although the representation of only being gay is overdone, this movie has captured a very essential essence of struggling, especially in a constricted environment. The shifts between pure elysian and misery were uneasy; this made it real. The directors, writers, producers and actors did not hold back. The scenes were intense and vulnerable whilst having a sense of restriction and hesitation.
I would've preferred a more sorrowful ending. Even though the ending is ideal, it isn't accurate. Along with the scenes where Chang Jia-Han and Wang Po-Te rediscovered each other as adults, it seemed a bit too far-fetched. I felt it ruined the raw emotions of the other scenes.
I feel the movie started very authentic, it took a whole new perspective. Many would-be afraid to have such explicit displays of aggression and violence, this movie went in-depth.
I only wished there was more LGBTQ+ incorporated and a less predictable finale. Even so, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. I will watch this again and again and again!!!
I can't wait to experience it again and notice the minuscule details added in!!
