Not a fan of it. Truly the reviews by IGN, Game Rant, and Game Spot just scream "we were bribed" because no game should ever get such a high review, especially a game like this. Now grant it, it wasn't as bad as some of the reviews make it out to be. There are SOME good moments. The combat was alright (It wasn't great but it was acceptable all things considering.) and the style was more colorful I guess but that's not saying a lot. In fact there are a lot of things I can say I dislike about the game, from it's final boss, to the sub-par character interaction, to the lack meaningful choices affecting the game both present and in previous titles but that's not the main reason why my score is so low.
If I have to be truly honest with myself and to the people reading this, it was just boring.
Everything about the previous titles had great things going for them but this is just too....safe. It's like the people making this had to have a guy remind them everyday to be inclusive, respectful, and not say anything that someone might take offense too. There's very little conflict between characters, the design makes the dramatic scenes look underwhelming, and the connection between the previous titles is so minimal it's almost like the previous titles didn't matter. (Which is fine to a certain degree but this was just insulting)
Now I can understand that I can't speak for everyone. This is just my review and all but I'll say this. If this wasn't a Dragon Age game I'd probably give a better score. It's not something for fans of the series. It's something for people who rarely play video games and wanted to be recommended something that is from a popular series while not having to deal with tough choices, see terrible things, or hurt people's feelings. It's the non-alcoholic beer version of the Dragon Age series. Dragon Age for kids in a way.
Now to address the wokeness in the game. There's a lot of it. If it was just a few gay and lesbian and trans interactions then fine. No big deal. Bioware has made the series more realistic and fair in their portrayal of such characters very well to the point where it feels natural. Characters like Krem and Dorian from Inquisition being written fairly well in a way that brings their identity to the foreground while making them an actual characters. This though? This game is total propaganda in it's portrayal. It's not even supportive, it's just pandering. You can even look up Youtubers who do identify as trans or gay or lesbian or non-binary and see how even they feel like the writing and discussion of these topics are more insulting then helpful.
Overall, the game itself isn't for fans. It's more for people who want a more PG version of a Dragon Age game. If you have someone whose never played too many video games before and enjoys fantasy like settings then I'd recommend this for them. Buy it on sale anyways. Otherwise, watch a few videos from your favorite Youtuber. You'll be entertained and save yourself $60+
