Despite the good acting and bombing sequences in this miniseries, I have to say the series overall is disappointing. Although it tries to infuse its straightforward, linear "war movie" narrative with Heller's sense of absurdity, it lacks the dark, disjointed, comedic craziness of the original source and, consequently, its sharp anti-war bite.
