This movie misses the mark by a far stretch.
The idea of an inverted reality might be interesting conceptually speaking, but to actually write a script that can effectively deliver it, and create a movie that leaves one thinking about the complexities and intricacies of this idea, takes more than exploding things, firing guns, smashing cars, and killing people.
Creating a confusing timeline that barely makes any sense does not translate into brilliance.
There is no character development, a weak storyline, and very bad special effects.
I am so disappointed! I truly expected more from this movie. It does a disfavor to its genre.
It does reflect though very well the world we live in today, a world in which all standards have dropped, mediocrity rules, and pseudo savviness replaced real knowledge and creativity.
I truly gave it the benefit of the doubt and tried my best to remain unbiased by my disappointment, while hoping for a plot twist. “Deja Vu”, now THAT was a good movie which played with a similar idea of modifying the outcome of the present by changing events in the past. It was entertaining and suspenseful, it had good character development, pretty good special effects and was totally captivating. Even though it has dramatic events and violent scenes, those scenes are meaningful to the storyline.
Movies like “Inception”, “Minority Report”, “Edge of Tomorrow” have been catalogued as great because they are truly amazingly composed and assembled, this one however, most definitely does not measure up to them. Disappointing!
