The creep factor of this movie is off the charts. The acting by the little girl was phenomenal, but the storyline is completely unsettling.
From start to finish it's never really clear what this man's motivations are when developing a relationship with an 11 year-old girl ... taking her across state lines and out into the middle of nowhere.
He has a perfectly willing, attractive young woman who desires him, that he has virtually no interest in, and everything about his daily life prior to the - okay, call it kidnapping, because that's what it was - the invisible "ex-wife" the talk with the male co-worker, living in hotels, etc., make no sense.
He promises to take the child home the minute she desires it. He promised to take her home right away on at least a couple of occasions when their relationship falters, and then he talked her out of wanting to go, and when he finally does take her home she shows clear signs of Stockholm Syndrome.
The bathroom scene was cringe worthy and I suspect has some hidden meaning.
Have no idea what the writer or director or producers were trying to say with this movie, but it's disturbing at the least.
