I had a hard time believing this was Green Day. The vocals are buried so deep and the style is ver-r-r-r-ry early 2000's pop-rock derivative. We're talking Fun, Arctic Monkeys, Black Keys, White Stripes, Flaming Lips, etc. etc. -- It comes off late and kind of cringe. Like maybe if they waited 15 years after this sound was hot, no one would notice? Or even worse, did they think they created these styles when they simply lifted an amalgamation of what existed over a decade ago? Either way, it lacks originality or any sense of inspiration. I was happy they dropped that pseudo-political shtick but other than that disappointed. It sounds like a bunch of dads trying to make indie rock. Lots of clapping and reverb.
