i started and finished watching this show in the same day, it is very well done. one of the many things that i love about this show is that the teenagers actually look like teenagers. i’m so tired of seeing 25-27 year olds trying to play 16 year olds because we truly just don’t look that mature yet because we’re just starting to grown up, and it holds teenagers to a high beauty standard. the characters actually have acne and nobody is trying to cover it up. so many shows make it seem like acne is a bad thing and the characters that have it are usually the center of a joke and made fun of for it but in this show, they just show that it’s normal and that there’s no need to cover it up. i also really appreciate the diversity in body sizes because not everyone is a size 0, but they’re not insecure about it. so many shows have the one fat girl whose only personality point is that they’re insecure about their body. also, lots of shows that are placed in high school over-sexualize their characters(*cough cough* euphoria *cough cough*) which is truly just unfair and creepy. it also creates a negative stereotype towards high schoolers, but the thing is, this show doesn’t do that at all. the relationships in the show have their sweet, funny, and awkward moments and it seems very realistic. another point is about the queer representation in this show because it is done so well. it shows wilhelm and him becoming more comfortable with himself and his sexuality very well. as a teenager who has been questioning their sexuality for years now, they showed how it can be and feel very accurately and it can also be different for other people. simon had already figured his sexuality out and was comfortable with it and it was nice to see that in a character. i also appreciate how the show didn’t play into the many stereotypes that queer people face because every person has a different personality and you see a lot in media that gay men and lesbians are depicted a certain way. the acting in this show is so good. every single actor did an amazing job and i got very attached to all of the characters. also, i have to point out how amazing the chemistry was between wilhelm and simon was. the actors, edvin ryding and omar rudberg were truly amazing. i can’t believe that scenes like on the football field and the fish scene were improvised because they were both so good and you can tell that they know both their characters very well. what i’m saying is that this is definitely one of the best shows i’ve ever watched and most definitely one of my favorite as well.
