If you are a lifelong Roddenberry fan, you will probably like this show. Season 1 is funny and fantastic, but season 2 dials up the character drama which makes it that much better. This show is essentially a classic Star Trek show like TNG or DS9 but with slightly different window dressing. One of the keys to its success is the many Trek alumni that have been or currently are involved with the show, including Brannon Braga, Jonathan Frakes, Tim Russ, Penny Johnson-Gerald and many, many others. And just to keep it fresh, the show has featured some great guest stars like Charlize Theron, Ted Danson and Rob Lowe, just to name a few. If you’ve ever mourned the fact that you’d never see another episode of real Star Trek again, do yourself a favor and watch The Orville.
