This goes to show when a medium budget film tops the best.
The plot is very good. The emotional involvement is set right from the get go.
The special effects are measured but quality. There is also a very good mix of new cgi and old school SfX which adds to the realism, to much continuous CGI can make you turn off or even have a hypnotic narcoleptic effect .
The only slight bug was a little short. Given that they used an almost slow burn story.
Spoiler warning from here on …
The background tension of the impending asteroid. Coupled with the slow but continuous level of fear, plenty of jumpy moments and not to predictable.
There was a tangible growing connection between the main character and the little girl, very moving in 3 or 4 parts . Something bigger producers seem to forget Cinemagoers love a story . Not just a CGI fest.
Watch out big-name director and producers need to look at the quality of delivery of this storyline and tasteful level of computer graphics.
I don’t know if it’s just me but if I get more than 30 seconds of continuous CGI it just becomes transparent as if it might as well Have been skipped.
For the budget this is an amazingly crafted movie that has all the elements it should.
Ignore the critics that have a short attention span .
To be honest I enjoyed this far more than I enjoyed avatar way of the water. I loved the original avatar.
The ending was sweet too knowing the little girl would be looked after . Lovely human emotional touch that lines the entire production.
I’m glad I read the critics and that how wrong they can be not to see the carefully crafted script and tasteful suspense scenes .
Go watch it if you enjoy time travel , prehistory dinosaurs of just the right amount and I have to say heartwarming family element.
Well done
