Fails to do justice to the original books. Not accurate in portraying the characters in the book albeit I accept that’s open to the interpretation of the producer and director. Nevertheless the film fails to deliver on the psychological traits inherent in the book and doesn’t give proper weight to the experiences of Amaia as a child vis a vis her relationship with her mother which is a significant thread running through the book itself. Additionally, scenes are too choppy, moving from one incident to another without any explanation. That aside, a good watch which would benefit from tighter editing. Needs a Hollywood remake!

It’s not Geralt, Cirri or Yennefer and if that’s not you/what you’re expecting, this is not for you. That said, this series stands on its own, creating the backstory for what eventually becomes Henry Cavill’s The Witcher. Decent characters but choppy storylines that are not the sum of their individual parts sadly. Lenny Henry badly cast and frankly comes across as a creepy and grumpy old man. If you can put all of the above to one side, this is an enjoyable romp but and I emphasis but, it’s not The Witcher, far from it.
