Steven Spielberg worked a miracle in this production by telling a powerful story with restraint and by telling the truth in every frame. It is incredibly difficult to approach such emotional material without allowing some sentiment to enter the scene but Spielberg was able to tell the story of the Holocaust for future generations while being respectful of history. The final scene is devastatingly moving in its power and simplicity and ends a film I will never forget.
