I grew up watching Mary Poppins on a bootleg copy my father had. I adored it. Now I knew that going in you could never recreate the magic. Still this movie was flat and dark. Too many slow singing bits and not one “catchy” tune. My favorite was the lamplighter dance number and the last 45 min of the movie I felt was the best. The bubble bath fantasy would have been better replaced with some good ole fashioned Mary Poppins tidying up. Once again CGI ruins an otherwise good idea. Sorry everyone. My children are older but I can guess that if they were younger watching it they would have been bored to tears. I wanted to love it and I ended up fighting to get to the end of it.
