The first ever book from Jeffrey Archer that I read was the Cliffton Chronicles and all 7 books were amazing.
“Heads You Win” starts with an interesting plot and it seems it tries to showcase a parallel universe based on the choices what we make.
Although the start was great but as the story goes further many a times I mixed up the character and turning back pages to check that this happened with a different one.
Also (spoiler alert) it happens that later in the stories it establishes that both the main characters do exist in the same universe and they are kind of look alike so that there friends/spouses gets fooled on the first look., which lead to hope some twist or story in the end that will tell okay both the characters were different even though they had same surnames and moms with the same name as well as the restaurant names.
The ending 2 chapters shows both the characters travelling together and referred with a common name which makes it even more intertwined and confusing where one character meet with an unfortunate faith(doesn’t clarify who at first glance but we can connect the dots and characters to at-least have a clue) and the other one hanging around waiting for some unforeseen and unfortunate event which the story doesn’t conclude but provides a hint.
On a whole as I mentioned the book starts with interesting note, but makes you confuse more in the middle, gives you hope for some sort of twist and ends with a note that left you with so many questions and also not very satisfactory.
