Most of the reviews, and therefore most of the the reviewers didn't get it. The movie is about character and how it is relieved when people are under stress. There were several small stories that took place that showed the good and the bad of human nature when faced with adversity. There were heroes, villains, dutifulness, evil and the mob. The backdrop of the defeat of the French and English and the evacuation from the French town of Dunkirk was interesting, historical and well done, the real genius are the revelation of character.
